The Ocean State Policy Research Institute is proud to announce the appointment of two new members to our Board of Directors and the election of officers.
 
The Honorable J. William Middendorf is the first of our new appointments.  Middendorf has served a number of presidential administrations in high-level positions, including Secretary of the Navy and Ambassador to the European Communities, the Organization of American States, and the Netherlands. A delegate to presidential nominating conventions as far back as Barry Goldwater's in 1964, Middendorf remains active in shaping conservative foreign, defense and economic policy through regular meetings with staff members on Capitol Hill.

Among other appointments, the Ambassador is a founding member of the Heritage Foundation and is a true renaissance man with interests in both music and art.

Lloyd Monroe has also accepted a seat on the OSPRI Board of Directors.  Monroe is a Financial Advisor at Oceanstate Financial Services, and a Registered Representative, New England Securities. He earned a B.A. and M. A. in History at Brown University, and his J.D. from Indiana University School of Law. 

Mr. Monroe has served with distinction as an Assistant United States Attorney, and as a Special Attorney, assigned to the Organized Crime & Racketeering Section of the U.S. Department of Justice. Lloyd and his spouse, Alicia D. Monroe, M.D., are the proud parents of three adult children.

Board officers were also elected at the December 22 Board of Directors meeting. 
 
Jon Scott has been elected as the board chairman.  Mr. Scott brings with him the experiences of politics and policy development, as well as that of a councilor in the DCYF group home system.  He currently sits on numerous boards including the Moses Brown Alumni Association.
 
Daniel S. Harrop, M.D., has been elected as vice chairman.  Dr. Harrop is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and a former faculty member at Harvard Medical School.
 
Jay Jacot has been elected treasurer.  Mr. Jacot is Business Manager for the New Haven architecture firm of Thompson|Edwards LLC., and he is also President of the Architecture Resource Center, Inc..
 
Thomas Wigand, J.D., SPHR has been elected as secretary.  Mr. Wigand is a member of the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, and the Society for Human Resource Management.
