| Press Release - December 12, 2007 |
Please save a spot in your schedule on December 12th for a special evening with Ocean State Policy Research Institute and Grover Norquist, President of Americans for Tax Reform (ATR).
According to former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich, Grover Norquist is "the person who I regard as the most innovative, creative, courageous and entrepreneurial leader of the anti-tax efforts and of conservative grassroots activism in America . . . He has truly made a difference and truly changed American history."
Grover Norquist founded ATR in 1985 at the request of President Reagan. ATR sponsors the Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a written promise by legislators and candidates for office that commits them to oppose any effort to increase the federal income taxes on individuals and businesses.
Mr. Norquist also serves on the board of directors of the National Rifle Association of America, the American Conservative Union, is a Contributing Editor to the American Spectator Magazine and services as the president of the American Society of Competitiveness.
In the past, Mr. Norquist served as a commissioner on the Advisory Commission on Electronic Commerce and on the National Commission on Restructuring the Internal Revenue Service. He was also an economist and chief speech-writer, U.S. Chamber of Commerce (1983-1984), on the campaign staff of the 1988, 1992, 1996 Republican Platform Committees and the executive director of the National Taxpayers' Union.
Please join us on December 12th for an evening of drinks, dinner and stimulating discussion about free markets and free minds in Rhode Island. You will be receiving an invitation this week.
